Hey y’all, my name is Lisa. I was in a mentally, emotionally, and physically abusive marriage for 10 years. During the last physical attack he strangled me. I knew if I didn’t get away then, the next time I might not live. (I do have a lifetime protection order against him.) These last 2 years have been extremely hard; learning to reset my nervous system, going to court/trial, among memory loss (have to go to a specialist for tests), and other physical things. I did start a business of making custom hand sewn pillows. Making the pillows helps with my pattern recognition and small motor skills. And the joy on the faces of those who opens a pillow i made for them, is purely priceless. To the victims that are still in this type of situation, there is a way out and there is a life after abuse (yes, you do have to take it a minute at a time at first). To the survivors, im so glad you made it out. We made it out.
