Women-Owned vs. Women-Run Businesses

What qualifies as a women-owned business?

A business is considered women-owned if at least 51% of the ownership is held by one or more women.

To confirm a business is 51% or more women-owned, we require ONE documentation that clearly shows ownership percentages.
Acceptable documents include:
      •     Business license
      •     Bank statement
      •     Tax return
      •     Articles of incorporation
      •     Operating agreement
      •     Shareholder agreement
      •     Cap table (ownership breakdown)
 
If the business has both women and non-women owners, the submitted document must specify the percentage of ownership held by each party. You only need to upload ONE document to prove your business is women-owned.
A women-owned business meets the 51%+ ownership requirement. A women-run business may have a female leader or manager but does not meet the ownership threshold. Our directory is exclusively for women-owned businesses.
